Using the Library Search

This guide includes information and instructions on using the library's new catalog.

Placing a Book on Hold

Triton College Library is now offering students, faculty, and staff  the option of placing library books on hold using our new library catalog. Pick up your books from the Information Desk instead of searching through the library stacks to find them.

To place a Triton College Library book on hold, use the Catalog Search bar on the library home page or the Triton College Catalog link located on the "Find Books" tab. You must be logged in to your library account to request an I-Share book.

  1. Find the record for the book you want to request and click on it. To place a book on hold, click on the full record for the book.

  1. Click on the Request link under the "Get It" tab.
    • You can skip over the terms of use box.
    • If there’s a date after which you wouldn’t need the item, you can put that here, or leave it blank if that isn’t relevant to you.
    • Feel free to add any comments that will help us fulfill your request.
  2. Click “Send Request”.

  1. You will receive confirmation that your hold was placed successfully.

  1. You will receive an email (sent to your triton.edu email address) confirming your hold. Once the library staff have completed your request and have it on the library's hold shelf, you will receive an email confirming your book is ready to be picked up at the Information Desk.
