One of the best places to start a search for CC images or media files
Wikimedia Commons
Database of millions of freely usable media files
Flickr
General search will return both copyright and CC images. Be sure to check out the CC section of the site for freely available images.
Pixabay
Public domain images you can freely use without attribution to the original author. Tip: While Pixabay can be a good way to find public domain images, your search will also return proprietary professional images Pixabay offers for sale.
Google Images
Be sure to scroll down in advanced search and set “usage rights” parameters to be “Free to use, share, or modify.”

Videos

YouTube
Incredibly popular and easily accessibly platform for sharing and viewing streaming media.

Tip: To search for CC licensed videos, type in your search term followed by a comma then “creativecommons.” When uploading videos, by default, the licensing is set at “Standard YouTube License”, which essentially means the creator is granting YouTube the right to broadcast the video. See the Terms of Service (specifically, Section 6.C.) for full details.

Vimeo
Easily upload and find CC licensed videos. This site tends to be used by businesses and organizations.
Internet Archive
Collection of old video and movie footage. Check out this site for old cartoons, sports videos, ephermal films and news footage.
TED
Nonprofit devoted to spreading innovative ideas through live talks and recorded media.

Tip: This site allows you to download video and you burn them to a DVD or thumb drive to avoid slow internet connection.

Audio

Internet Archive
Collection of audio files such as animal sounds, old time radio shows, sound effects and music
SoundCloud
A social sound platform for people to create and share music. Many SoundCloud songs and sounds are licensed with Creative Commons.
Jamendo
More than 350,000 free music tracks licensed under Creative Commons, all available for streaming and unlimited download without ads
ccMixter
A community music site featuring remixes licensed under Creative Commons
