Hey Google? How do I...?

Learning From Your Google Searches

What Can You Learn From Your Google Searches?

You may already know that Google searches don't necessarily yield results that are academic or scholarly. So why start with Google?

By Googling general questions like "historical figures of the American Revolution," for example, you can find out more information about the topic you're studying or writing a paper on. Reading through some of the Google results for a search for Revolutionary War figures may help you to better determine which person from history you'd like to write about or which areas of your class you need to study more before a test.

Taking Notes On Your Google Searches

When you're Googling, quickly jotting down relevant information will help you when you're ready to conduct other searches. Some information that you may want to make note of would be things like key terms, important figures, books or articles, or a particular researcher's name if it keeps coming up in your search.

With your notes in hand, moving to Triton's resources for academic searches will make finding relevant information easier.
