Native American Heritage

What is National American Indian Heritage Month?

Sometimes referred to as Indigenous People Month, the month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. It is also a good time to educate the general public about tribes and the hardships they face by the political justice system.

It was on Oct. 31, 2019 that President Trump issued a proclamation designating November 2019 as National Native American Heritage Month. The proclamation has been renewed in 2020 to insure and remind people of this national event. There are many ways to celebrate and contribute this month, explore this guide to learn about the tribes, history, and charities that exist to support the Native People.
