What is EZproxy?
EZproxy is the tool that lets Triton Library users access online resources, such as databases, ejournals, and ebooks, from off-campus using a MyTriton Portal username and password. When you are on-campus (either on a campus computer or the wireless network), library databases and vendors recognize a campus IP address and know that you have permission to use subscription library resources. But, since our resources are only licensed for Triton students, faculty, and staff, they need to have a way to verify that an off-campus user is legitimately affiliated with Triton. EZproxy is the tool the Triton Library uses to verify that someone is an authorized library user.
How does EZproxy work?
Authentication from off-campus is simple. Start from the Triton College Library homepage and find an online resource you want to use. When you click on the link to go to full-text or read online, you will be prompted to log in with your MyTriton Portal username and password. You are then directed through the EZproxy proxy server and are able to access the resource you were looking for. You will usually only have to log in once per browser session (although there are some exceptions).
