Triton College Library Website: Triton College Library Book Notes an academic library?

Hey Friends!

Beginning July 2022 on Thursdays from 10am-10:30am Triton College Library is open to children, parents and caregivers of our Child Development Center for story time! Our kickoff will be on Thursday, July 7th! It's going to be a fun time!

We know what you're thinking. Why do story time at an academic/college library? Will full grown college students* want to sit in circle time for a fairytale?

*Actually, some might, but more on that later.

We are EXCITED to offer story time in our programing beginning this summer in partnership with our Child Development Center. What a great opportunity for the Triton College Library to share our robust juvenile collection as well as open up the library to our youngest Triton students! The Triton College Library is for ALL STUDENTS! From the youngest to the oldest and all faculty and staff in between, considering and offering programing events such as story time gives us an opportunity to engage with the Child Development Center and our Early Childhood Education students in more dynamic ways.

Some benefits include:

  • Showcasing our children and juvenile collection

  • Introducing children to the library
  • Offering a close safe space for the Child Development Center to have a great outing
  • And, for the future, offering opportunities for Early Childhood Education students to interact or observe learning experiences with young children in a safe controlled environment.

The library is a place of learning, and an academic library is a place of research and discovery! Many of our best partnerships are collaborations with other departments across the college. Check out our libguide, Story Telling for Story Time for more information!

So don't be alarmed when you hear the delighted giggles of happy children enjoying the library! That's probably the best benefit of all!
